Canada is enjoying a booming micro-distillery scene these days, and one of the newest and most exciting entries is from Victoria Distillers in British Columbia. They have now teamed up with the famed Fairmont Empress Hotel to create a new gin called Empress 1908. The botanical blend for “Empress” consists of rose, coriander seeds, grapefruit peel, ginger, juniper, cinnamon, Empress blend tea, and dried butterfly pea flowers, which give the gin a stunning “royal” purple color. Gently refined and subtly nuanced, this is a gin with great depth and boldness of spirit.
