Dating from 1896, Lustau was originally an Almacenista, a modest estate with small holdings that sold most of its wine to large exporting bodegas. It was not until the 1950s that Lustau became Emilio Lustau SA and joined the ranks of a select group of exporters of Sherry. Their version of white (dry) vermouth is made from a blend of Fino and Moscatel sherries, with nine botanicals macerated separately and then combined with the sherries. Fino gives dry minerality and almond characteristics, with moscatel imparting a sweet, yet floral, citrus peel finish; the result is a light and refreshing vermouth, bright golden yellow, with a markedly bitter end.
