Deanston was originally built as a cotton mill in 1785. When the mill closed in 1965, it was decided to convert the structure into a distillery. Deanston produces artisanal, hand-crafted single malts unchill-filtered: nothing is added, nothing is taken away. And Deanston is the only distillery in Scotland that is self-sustaining for electricity, being equipped with a dam and a turbine. The flavors of their 12 year are bright and fresh, with notes of citrus, pineapple, lemongrass, and subtle ginger, all on a bed of clean honeyed malt, light toffee and soft vanilla. The finish is gentle and easy-going.
