Giuseppe Contratto founded the company in Piedmont that bears his name in 1867. The company remained with the family for 126 years until, in 1993, the estate was acquired by Carlo Bocchino who in turn sold it in 2011 to the noted winemaker Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta. Today a UNESCO World Heritage site, Contratto produces only traditional-method sparkling wine and some selected spirits under the watchful eye of Rivetti and his talented son Andrea. Contratto Aperitif has a flavor profile that puts is roughly halfway between Aperol and Campari. Newly rereleased in the international market in 2013, It is made following a recipe that dates from 1935 based on a combination of 28 delicately infused premium natural botanicals. Vibrantly bittersweet, it is perfect on the rocks or in a spritz.
