Collin Edwards’s first professional success was as a grapegrower and winemaker in California’s Napa Valley, but a trip south of the border with his brother Chris led him in a different direction, to the creation in 2017 of the Cazcanes tequila brand and to renown as an award-winning producer of tequila. Distilled at Tequilera TAP in Jalisco, Mexico by master distiller Francisco "Chico" Jiménez Lazcarro, Cazcanes is made from 100% Pure Weber Blue Agave and natural spring water from the Navichi springs; the agave is grown in volcanic soil and the juice is fermented with wild yeast and distilled in alembic stills. The No. 7 (80 proof) Reposado is aged for up to eleven months in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels; with butterscotch, vanilla, and coconut on the nose, the palate shows sweet agave, caramel, vanilla, and coconut, with hints of grapefruit citrus with an extremely smooth, sweet, buttery finish.
