In 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr. fulfilled a lifelong dream of reviving an old family bourbon recipe by starting the Bulleit Distilling Company. Inspired by his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit, who made a high-rye whiskey between 1830-1860, Tom left a successful law practice and risked everything on this venture. The Bulleit brand has been owned by American spirits giant Diageo since 2011. This is their straight rye whiskey, made with a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is produced in small batches; with cherries and vanilla on the nose, spices and citrus on the palate, it has a smoky finish with cinnamon and allspice and a hint of sweetness.
