One-time advertising and direct marketing guy Joe Beatrice founded Barrell Craft Spirits in Georgetown and Frankfort Kentucky in 2014, almost immediately winning praise as a blender and bottler primarily of cask-strength American whiskies. Barrell blends products that explore the unique effects of different distillation methods, barrels and aging environments, and bottles the results at cask strength. Every batch produced is a limited release and has an intentionally distinct flavor profile. Created as an “ode to coastal memories,” Seagrass is a blend of American and Canadian rye whiskies, with each ingredient finished separately in Martinique Rhum Agricole casks, apricot brandy casks, and Madeira barrels. Deep and complex, it has tropical fruit aromas and flavors, grain spice with subtle floral notes, and a long creamy finish.
