Appleton is the oldest and most famous of all of Jamaica’s sugar-cane estates. Located in the fertile Nassau Valley on either side of the Black River in the southwest part of the island, the estate dates from 1749. Appleton makes rich rums with characteristic Christmas cake and butterscotch flavors and is especially known for its long-aged editions. This 8 Year, from Master Blender Joy Spence, is designed to be the estate’s most versatile expression of aged rum; it is light on its feet, with plenty of fruit and baking spices, with lots of vanilla, chocolate, and orange peel.
