Gernot and Heike Heinrich started their winery in the Burgenland region of Austria, on the northeast side of the lake called the Neusiedlersee, in 1990. Their intent from the start has been to produce age-worthy red wines, working initially with Blaufrankisch, but they have since extended their interest to different varieties and winemaking styles. Their Naked Rosé is in fact entirely Blaufrankisch from old vineyards growing on the slopes of the Leitha Mountains. Made using partial whole-bunch fermentation and a short maceration period, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Fresh and lively, it is clearly red fruit-driven, with unexpected depth and a long fruity finish.
