Vadiaperti is located in the heart of Irpinia, in the southern Italian region of Campania. The vineyards here were planted back in the 1940s, but it was only in 1984 that Antonio Troisi made his first bottle of wine. Today the vines are tended and the wine made by Antonio's son Raffaele, who took the reins in 1998. Emphasis here is on native varietals, both red and white, and the estate also produces two different grappas. Native to Campania, Coda di Volpe is a wine grape that dates back to at least Roman times; the name, which means “fox’s tail,” refers to the shape of the grape bunches on the vine. Done entirely in stainless steel, the wine has aromas of honey and fresh herbs and is lively andjuicy on the palate with a slightly resinous finish.
