Ulysses Vineyards winery is in Napa Valley, located along the Oakland bench, at the foothills of the Mayacamas Range. Once part of the Charles Hopper ranch, it was acquired in 2008 by Christian Moueix, one of the most visionary men in the wine industry, owner of nearby Dominus as well as of several major Bordeaux chateaux. Ulysses is a result of Moueix's ongoing quest to explore the unique character and quality of an exceptional terroir and to translate its specificity in a wine. The wine is a classic Bordeaux-style red, largely Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot blended in. With notes of blackberries, truffles, tobacco and cassis, it shows bright acidity and lifted aromatics on a core of dark fruit with exotic overtones.
