This is a fourth-generation family estate producing certified organic wines in the Neusiedlersee region of Austria. Thomas Hareter took over from his parents Gerda and Matthias in 2011 and immediately began the conversion to organic farming, becoming fully certified in 2006. The farm comprises some 38 acres of vineyard on the shores of Lake Neusiedl near the Hungarian border, planted to a mix of indigenous and international varietals. His Blaufrankisch, a red grape native to this regiion but very much on the rise elsewhere, is silky and lush, with aromas of blueberry and flint and a palate that is juicy and ample.
