Schramsberg unquestionably deserves to be known as “America’s House of Sparkling Wine.” In 1965, when Jack and Jamie Davies discovered it, Schramsberg was a historic but run-down winery that had been abandoned for years. They brought the property back to life and produced their first vintage, a Blanc de Blancs, that year. Today son Hugh is at the helm of this iconic enterprise. This Blanc de Blancs has fresh aromas of green apple, pear, grapefruit and lime zest complemented by developed nuances of “fresh from the oven” bread and candied citrus. Generous flavors of grapefruit, lime and pineapple are present in this wine, and the palate is crisp on entry with a long, tangy and refreshing acidity.
