Nicoletta Boca's father was a Partisan in the Langhe hills during WWII and, after the war, would revisit the region annually to instill in his children a love for nature and a respect for culture and history. Integral to those trips was the appreciation of the local food and wine. Nicoletta hails from Milan, but so rich were these childhood memories that, beginning in 1992, she has devoted herself to the land and the cultivation of vines. With Dogliani as her base, she has become known primarily for her Dolcetto, but this is her white wine, a 70/30 blend of Riesling and Gewurztraminer, which is cofermented in a large wooden vat after a five-day maceration; the wine is richly textured but with a freshness and acidity that speaks to both the dominant Riesling character and the mineral soil.
