Sambucese is the private brand of a new New York based importing company, Verde Imports, founded by Charlie Verde, that specializes in Italian, and mostly Sicilian, wines. The line of wines, produced in Sambuca di Sicilia, on the island’s southern coast, comprises three reds, two whites, and a rose. This white is 100% Grillo, a grape native to Sicily; it offers hints of citrus, especially lemon and grapefruit, on the nose, and the palate is fresh, with a good body and crisp acidity.
