Among the most famous of French apertifs is a pour of gentiane liqueur on the rocks with a squeeze of lemon. The wild aromatic gentiane flavors of Salers have excited palates for over 125 years and today it is the oldest gentiane liqueur of the Massif Central, the birthplace of this style of aperitif. Made by its orginal recipe with gentiane only from the Auvergne region, Salers retains the refined, if rustic, character that historically defined this drink.
