Ryme Cellars takes its name from owner-winemakers RYan and MEgan Glaab, who started their venture in Sonoma in 2007. Intent on producing intriguing wines made from grape varieties they especially enjoyed themselves, they began with one ton of Aglianico grapes. They moved on – to Vermentino, Ribolla Gialla, and Cabernet Franc, among others – but always aiming for wines with distinctive character, wines that taste great on their own, not just with food. From early days they have been making two versions of Vermentino: “Hers,” which we have here, which is pressed, settled chean, and bottled early; and “His,” which is picked later, destemmed, fermented on the skins and aged longer. Hers is lithe and refreshing, zippy and crunchy on the palate, with lots of lemon rind and salty sea spray.
