Roberto Henriquez felll in love with grape vines when he first set foot in his uncle’s vineyards as a child. He pursued his passion by studying agronomy and enology, then doing hands-on winemaking in Canada, South Africa, and the Loire Valley, where he was introduced to biodynamic winemaking practices. T the age of 29 he returned home to the Bio Bio region of Chile with the mission of rescuing and showcasing some of South America’s oldest vines. After carefully selecting his vineyards, he founded the Roberto Henriquez winery in 2015. Henriquez farms all the vineyards himself without herbicides or pesticides, providing no irrigation and adhering to organic and sustainable principles. His Cinsault is from a vineyard in the Itata valley, less than five miles from the sea, where the vines are 100 years old; it is delicate and fruity yet intense, earthy and savory, vibrantly fresh with good acidity.
