Red Newt Cellars is a winery and bistro located in Hector, New York, on the east side of Seneca Lake; it was founded in 1998 by David and Debra Whiting, an accomplished chef who sadly was killed in an automobile accident in 2011. Like many Finger Lakes wineries, Red Newt is perhaps best known for their Rieslings, and this version shows you why. It shows classic aromas of slate and peach stone, with floral, mineral, and stone fruit notes on the palate.
