Quinta da Calcada is a medium-sized wine estate known for its production of top-quality vinho verde wines, both white and rosé; founded in 1917, which makes it the oldest wine estate in the region, it has been since the 1960s the property of Portuguese entrepreneur Manuel Antonio da Mata. The 175 acres here are planted to a mix of indigenous varietals, but this rosé is made entirely from a highly distinctive native grape called Vinhao. Slightly off-dry, it is vibrant and racy, with flavors of strawberry, lemon and lime.
