Located in the northeastern corner of Italy’s Friuli region, Puiatti was founded in 1967 by Vittorio Puiatti, a pioneer of modern winemaking methods who sought to highlight the character of the region’s grape varieties by focusing on the grape itself, eschewing the use of oak at any stage in the process. Other Nos are part of the Puiatti philosophy as well, including no over-ripening, no maceration, no inoculation, and no oxidation. Today Cantina Puiatti is part of Bertani Domains, a loose organization of five distinct wineries across Italy with the historic house of Bertani as the parent company. This Ribolla Gialla is full and rich yet light on the palate, with compelling aromas of apples, gooseberries, and fresh herbs.
