Claus Preisinger is more than a bit of a self-made man and winemaker: he started his winery in his early twenties out of his parents’ garage and finished building his state-of-the-art winery in the Burgenland region of Austria in 2009, before he was even thirty years old. He has become known for his elegantly crafted versions of two Austrian red grapes, Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch, and has been practicing biodynamics since the very beginning. With this “Puszta Blanca,” however, he takes us into white wine territory, producing a compelling and unique blend of Gruner Veltlliner, Pinot Blanc, and Muscat Ottonel. An easy drinking white, it has a fresh briny quality that makes it particularly thirst-quenching.
