The Pittaro brothers, the Pitars, are descended from a long line of master winemakers in Friuli that dates back to 1510. Today there are four “Pitars”: Loris, Bruno, Mauro and Paolo. They produce a full range of wines, red and white, still and sparkling, under the Pitars label, but This “Grigio” was produced especially for American importer Rob Mackin of Artisan Wines. Clean and ripe on the palate, it is moderately acidic with a slight hint of richness . . . a real crowd-pleaser.
