Piper Sonoma was founded in 1980 by the Marquis d’Aulan, a direct descendant of the Piper family, which has been linked for generations with champagne and premium wines. It was begun as a partnership between Piper Heidieck and Rodney Strong’s Sonoma Vineyards, and was rooted securely in the d’Aulan family’s intent to produce world-class sparkling wines in the new world, using old-world winemaking techniques. Made from grapes sourced from vineyards across Sonoma County, the wines are today produced under the guidance of experienced winemaker Keith Hock. The Brut is their flagship cuvée, a 75/25 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; pale straw in color, it shows aromas of crisp greem apples, citrus, and white flowers.
