Founded in 1978 by Gary Andrus, Pine Ridge Vineyards sits in the heart of the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. Today the winery owns estate vineyards in five different premier Napa locations: Stag’s Leap District, Howell Mountain, Rutherford, Oakville, and Carneros. Over the years 1991-2002, Leucadia National Corporation went from partial to complete ownership of the winery, and in 2013 a new company, the Crimson Wine Company, was spun off as owners/managers of the winery. This rather unusual blend of Chenin Blanc and Viognier, made from fruit sourced from farther south, in Clarksburg in the Sacramento delta, has been a steady favorite with us over the years: it is medium-bodied in the mouth, with forward fruit flavors of citrus, apple and pineapple that remain bright in the mid-palate before a crisp, dry finish.
