The two brothers, Bruno and Philippe Colin, honed their winemaking skills at their father Michel’s estate, Domaine Colin-Deleger; when Michel decided to retire he split the estate between his two sons, who opted to create their own separate estates, and the first vintage for both was in 2004. Philippe farms roughly thirty acres in Chassagne-Montrachet but also has holdings in Marange, St. Aubin, and Santenay. Philippe makes light-framed elegant wines in both colors equally well. This Chassagne is from a premier cru vineyard, “La Maltroie”; fresh and refined on the nose, it has a highly focused palate with ripe citrus fruit and soft oak spice.
