Based in a small town, Castel San Pietro Terme, east of Bologna, in Emilia Romagna, Andrea Marchetti originally followed a fairly classic path in wine, first as a trained sommelier and blogger, but soon joined the world of natural and artisanal winemaking, favoring small growers working in an environmentally sustainable framework. He farms some 12 acres near his home base, but frequently travels north, sourcing grapes from like-minded growers in the Veneto and Lombardy. “La Corte dei Miracoli” is the banner name for all the wines produced and bottled at the estate of Marchetti’s neighbor and collaborator, Filippo Manetti. Marchetti’s wine in this group is “La Corte,” a 50/50 blend of Albana and Trebbiano Romagnolo, done in stainless steel and neutral barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered; it has aromas and flavors of wild grasses and herbs, with light tannins and a balsamic note on the finish.
