This venerable Champagne house was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, whose aim from the start was to produce only prestige bottlings every year. Today the house of Krug is run by Olivier Krug, representing the sixth generation of the family to do so. The Grande Cuvee is the archetype of Krug’s philosophy of craftsmanship and savoir-faire. This 170th edition is a blend of 195 different wines from the Krug collection, with reserves composing 45% of the final blend. Its finesse is the result of a stay of at least another six years in the cellars. Light golden in color with fine, vivacious bubbles, it has aromas of ripe citrus fruits and flowers in bloom; it is rich and elegant with a remarkably buoyant vitality.
