Hervé Villemade has been working his family's vines in Cellettes, a small town in the Loire Valley, since taking over from his father in 1995. Today, the estate represents about 55 acres of organically farmed fruit within the Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny AOCs, along with a négociant license to supplement production with local grapes. His Cheverny Rouge is a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir done entirely in concrete tanks. Juicy and bright, it is full of tangy red fruits with smoky, meaty notes and some earthiness to balance out the fruit.
