The late David Lett pioneered grape-growing and winemaking in the Willamette Valley, planting the first Pinot Noir vines there in 1965. Jason Lett took over from his father in 2005 (David passed away in 2008) as winemaker and vineyard manager and continues the family’s pioneering legacy. Eyrie has always been known for creating wines that are very approachable when young but also with a (now legendary) ability to age for decades. This is one of six different single-vineyard Pinots Eyrie produces, in addition to their entry-level Willamette Valley blend. The Outcrop Vineyard, in the Dundee Hills, is considered the most delicate and floral of all the single-vineyard Pinots; aged 24 months in French oak, only 12% of which is new, it shows great finesse with subtle earth tones.
