The Cornu family established itself in the town of Ladoix in 1870 and founded the domaine shortly after in 1875. Edmond Cornu assumed command of the estate in 1956 and in 1959 began to bottle the wines himself. With the ascension of his son Pierre to full participation in the domaine, this dynamic family has aggressively pursued additional opportunities to acquire prime vineyard sites, now producing many wines from Ladoix, Aloxe Corton, Corton, Chorey and Savigny. These wines are hand harvested, destemmed and aged in small barrels for 18-20 months. This Chorey-les-Beaune is a single-vineyard wine from a vineyard where the family owns a bit more than five acres and the vines are more than 35 years in age. This is a Pinot Noir with a spice-box full of aromas, a bit of rusticity to its tannins, and a palate full of bright red cherry fruit.
