In 1720 the Farjon family fled the plague in Marseille, settling in Uchaux, a village in the Vaucluse, and giving their name to a small hamlet just north of there, "Les Farjons," where the domaine is located. In 1974 Robert Farjon named the domaine in honor of the Greek god of wine and vines. Today "Dionysos" is in the capable hands of Benjamin Farjon, representing the seventh generation in the family, and his brother-in-law Michel Berger. The vineyards here are all certified organic, but biodynamic principles are observed and the vineyards here have never been treated with any chemicals. Their Viognier has the peachy and floral aromas typical of the varietal and is soft and fresh on the palate.
