The Lamarche family has been making wine in in Vosne since the 18th Century. The vineyard portfolio of this important domaine was created masterfully over three generations of the Lamarche family, and this is now considered a top-ranked domaine, producing wines that express themselves through terroir rather than power. Francois Lamarche took over from his father Henry in 1985 but died tragically following a tractor accident in 2013. He had for some years been assisted by his daughter Nicole, his niece Nathalie, and his sister Genevieve, but Nicole took charge following the accident and so Domaine Lamarche became Domaine Nicole Lamarche. La Grande Rue is a Grand Cru Monopole, the jewel in the estate’s crown, located between the vineyards of Romanée-Conti and La Romanée on the north, and La Tâche on the south. This is a wine of remarkable delicacy, with the texture of fine silk; poised and balanced, it shows notes of orange blossoms, roses, and the lightest of red fruits.
