Inspired by the uniqueness of the terroir, Bertrand Galbrun founded his small estate in Bourgueil in 2005. His not-quite-five acres here, all farmed biodynamicaly, are planted almost entirely to Cabernet Franc, but his "Antidote" is a 50/50 blend of that Cab Franc with a grape native to the Loire called Grolleau. The wine is completely natural and non-interventioist: the fruit is hand-harvested, trod by foot, and spontaneously fermented, and no sulfur or other chemicals are added. Light in body and relatively low in alocohol (just a hair over 12%), the wine has bright notes of plum and berries with a savory, earthy finish.
