he Gonnet family settled in the southern Rhone back in the 1600s and built the farmhouse that today serves as the estate’s headquarters in 1880. Today the property is in the careful hands of cousins Bertrand and Guillaume Gonnet. They produce wines under three labels: Font de Michelle, Font du Vent (a property they acquired in 2002), and Gonnet Pere & Fils. The Font du Vent property is located on the western side of the Rhône, across the river from Châteauneuf, in the village of Domazan. As with all their properties, the vines here are farmed organically and have been for some time. This white is a blend of Viognier, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, and Roussanne; it has floral, citrus, and tropical fruit aromas and a fine mineral finish, making it ideal as an aperitif.
