This chateau has been in the Brisson family since 1832. The estate, the largest in Lalande de Pomerol, comprises 113 acres of vineyard planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, all maintained in accordance with the principles of sustainable agriculture. In 2014 the chateau signed an agreement with Chateau Latour, whose owner, Francois Pinault, along with the Artemis Group took a minority stake in the property. In 2017 the Artemis group took full control of the property, then sold it, three ears on, to Suravenir Insurance, who also own Chaeau Calon Segur. The large vineyard here (115 acres) is planted largely to Merlot, with some Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Malbec, and the viticulture here is 100% organic/biodynamic, certified organic as of 2020. This 2016, a blend of all three varietals, is medium-bodied, with a touch of smoke, espresso, and plums in a soft, silky finish.
