The village of Perelada is located in the heart of the Emporda plain in the northeastern corner of Spain, where the foothills of the Pyrenees stretch out to the Mediterranean, and just nine miles from the Spanish-French border. Castillo Perelada Winery has 375 acres of vineyards in the Emporda-Costa Brava region; they produce an outstanding cava as well as a wide range of both red and white still wines. The Blanc Pescador is a "pearl" or "needle" wine, a naturally sparkling wine produced by the fermentation of residual sugars from the grapes; a blend of Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel-lo (the same grapes used for cava), it has a pleasantly fruity aroma and a balanced palate.
