Jack Cakebread is one of Napa Valley's true pioneers, having bought what became Cakebread Cellars more than forty years ago. Today operations are in the more than capable hands of son Bruce, who has greatly increased the level of knowledge and sophistication involved in production of the Cakebread wines. With the accession of Bruce to the job of President/CEO in 2002, control over all aspects of winemaking passed to 25-year veteran Julianne Laks. Her Sauvignon Blanc, made from grapes sourced throughout Napa Valley and combined with estate-grown grapes, shows distinctive varietal character: it displays bright, sun-kissed aromas of fresh guava, grapefruit, lime and mineral, with hints of honeydew melon and golden apple while on the sprightly palate, brisk white grapefruit, guava, melon and lemon-lime flavors convey a mouthwatering verve, with hints of pineapple and kiwi fruit on the long, refreshing finish..
