Bodegas Volver was founded in 2004 by winemaker Rafael Canizares, who is widely considered to be one of those resposibile for the international boom in Spanish wines in the 1990s. The winery, located in Alicante, owns more than 700 acres of vineyard in the high-elevation (2,000-2,500 feet) regions of both Alicante and La Mancha and creates wines in several regions, iincluding Alicante, La Mancha, Jumilla, Rueda, Valencia, Almansa, and soon Rías Baixas. Quinta del '67 is a new project of Canizares, his way of paying tribute to his own generation. It is 100% Garnacha Tintorera from vineyards around Alpera in Almansa. Aged 14 months in new French oak and bottled unfiltered, it is powerful and ageworthy, with aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, chocolate, and spice and a long and persistent finish.
