Established at Haro in 1895 by Felix Martinez Lacuesta, Bodegas Martinez Lacuesta is one of the most respected names in Rioja. The winery is still run by the family after three consecutive generations, today in the person of great-grandson Luis. This Rioja Reserva has been called by critics a “well-priced overachiever.” It offers fine aromas of brandied cherries, spiced plums, and earth and a layered palate that is lively but shows maturity. Vibrant flavors of black currant, bruwn sugar, and varied spices lead to a peppery, chocolaty dry finish.
