Located in the Calatayud region of northeastern Spain, Ateca was founded in 2005 as a joint project of the Gil family and the well-known American importer Jorge Ordonez. The Gil family fully acquired the winery in 2009. The main variety here is Garnacha and the vines, for the most part, range in age from 80 to 100 years old. The Honoro Vera exhibits greater aromatic complexity and richness with mineral and blueberry notes leading to a savory and spicy wine nicely balanced and very easy to drink.
