Telmo Rodriguez is one of Spain's most celebrated winemakers. He not only looks after the wines at the family property Remelluri (in Rioja); he also makes a wide range of wines from all over Spain under his own name. His wines are typically modern in style but still show regional typicity. This "Molina Real" is a sweet Moscatel from Malaga, made from grapes from vineyards that are dramatic and spectacular, situated in steep shale slopes where not even donkeys can climb. After being hand-picked, the grapes are left to dry in the sun for 10-15 days before being pressed and fermented in cask for two months; the resulting wine is complex, with rich floral and fruit flavors, concentrated and pure, with an underlying vibrant acidity.
