Nicola Catena emigrated from Italy to Argentina in 1898; he firmly believed that he had found the promised land in Mendoza, where he planted his first Malbec vineyard in 1902. His vineyards, and convictions, passed to his son Domingo, who became one of the largest vineyard holders in Argentina. Today the estate is run by Domingo’s son Nicolas and grand-daughter Laura. This Malbec is made from grapes grown in their vineyards in the Vista Flores district of the Uco Valley; it offers ripe, concentrated dark red fruit aromas with delicate floral notes of lavender, violet and mocha, with a rich, full mouthfeel and hints of leather and spices.
