Since Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal was founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & filhos, it has had a rich and varied history, making a name for itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. Today Bacalhoa has wineries in all of the most important wine regions in Portugal and is the largest single shareholder in Alianca, one of the most prestigious producers of top quality sparkling wines, brandies and still wines in Portugal. This red is a blend of nearly equal parts Syrah, Castelao, and Argonez: the Syrah gives strength and an aromatic touch, the Castelao gives structure and red fruit aromas, and the Aragonez gives elegance and personality to the wine.
