Established in the 16th century, Avignonesi is widely considered the benchmark for Vino Nobile de Montepulciano. In 2009, Belgian businesswoman Virginie Saverys saw great potential in the estate and bought the entire property. In just a few years, Virginie has elevated the status of this venerable estate: she’s strategically acquired some of the best vineyards in the region all while converting the estate to organic/biodynamic farming. “Da-di,” which is Chinese for “earth” and “soil,” expresses the estate’s interest in experimenting with Tuscan winemaking processes: it is 100% Sangiovese, yes, but done neither in steel nor in oak but rather in Tuscan clay, giving the wine a vibrant and unvarnished taste of red fruit. Medium-bodied, it has a sleek texture and a soft spicy finish.
