Located in the Langhe region of Piedmont, Distilleria Montanaro was founded in 1885 by Francesco Truffoni, who was one of the first to make a grappa from the Nebbiolo grape. In 1922 the estate passed into the hands of Mario Montanaro and his wife Angela Trussoni. Today the family still makes a wide range of products based on the native grape varieties of Piedmont. Their Grappa di Barbaresco, made entirely from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Barbaresco, expresses all the elegance of that grape variety: it is soft, clean and fine on the palate, with an explosive center that precedes an elegant and persistent finish.
