Kahlua is a rich, dark and smooth coffee-based liqueur from Mexico. The original producer, Allied Domecq, wanted to preserve a Veracruzan identity to its product, so the name Kahlua was chosen; it means "House of the Acolhua people" in the Veracruz Nahuatl language, the language spoken before the Spanish Conquest. Kahlua is used to make cocktails, or as a topping for or ingredient in many desserts.
