Highclere Castle is a 5,000-acre estate in Hampshire, England. Built in 1679 and largely renovated in the 1840s, with a park designed by Capability Brown in the 18th century, the property is today owned by George Herbert, the Eighth Earl of Carnevon, and yes, it was here that the first Downton Abbey television series was filmed in 2010. And now, inspired largely by the castle gardens, there is Highclere Castle Gin, developed over a four-year period by spirits entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin in collaboration with the Earl himself. Highclere Castle Gin combines classic juniper and pine aromas with an array of flavors spanning dried flowers (lavender), sweet and creamy oats, cardamom, and citrus (orange zest and lime flower). It is a truly versatile London dry gin, perfect for a martini or any other gin-based cocktail.
