The first vodka to be made in Brooklyn since Prohibition, was Brooklyn Republic, the work of a troika of resident Brooklyn vodka lovers: Gary Shokin, who came to New York from Lithuania some 30 years ago; his daughter Kary Laskin, born and raised in Brooklyn; and Mark Krupkin, originally from Latvia. From that beginning developed a full line of spirits (and a few wines as well) under the “Gary’s Good” banner. This is the gin, distilled four times and gluten-free, made from top-quality American corn. Clean and pure, it features a fresh citrus body with delicate juniper overtones.
