The brand, produced by Heaven Hill, is named for Rev. Elijah Craig, the man who discovered the method of making true Kentucky Bourbon when he stored his wares in barrels that had been charred by fire. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof was introduced in 2013 and is released on an allocated basis three times per year: January, May, and September. Each release features a different proof and each batch is identified by a four-character batch name. Batch B524, released in May of 2024, was aged eleven years and two months. It is traditionally inspired and bold, with robust aromas, heavily charred oak and tobacco on the palate, and a long, straightforward finish.
